The Rothschild Archive holds a collection of paintings and other works of art - sketches, engravings, prints, watercolours, miniatures and sculpture. These works have largely been acquired by the Archive through gift and purchase. The works mainly consist of portraits and likenesses of members of the Rothschild family and artworks created by members of the Rothschild family. Other artworks, transferred in deposits from Rothschild properties and Rothschild family members will also be found in the Named Collections.
In addition, the Archive is responsible for curating a collection of art owned by the business. These pieces, including family portraits and other works are not owned by the Archive. Many artworks are still displayed at New Court. [Note: there is no general public access to works on display.]
The most important pieces, and those with a distinct Rothschild connection are listed here.
