Artworks

The collections of The Rothschild Archive include a number of paintings, sketches, engravings, prints, miniatures and portrait busts.

These works have largely been acquired by the Archive through gift and purchase.  In 2022, the historic London buisness made a generous gift of over 100 portraits and other art works (many of which had been displayed at the various New Court buildings for many years, and for which the Archive had de facto responsibility) to the Trustees of The Rothschild Archive.

Most artworks are portraits and likenesses of members of the Rothschild family and artworks created by members of the Rothschild family. Other artworks, transferred in deposits from Rothschild properties and Rothschild family members will also be found in the Named Collections.

In addition, The Rothschild Archive is responsible for curating artworks owned by the London business. These works are not part of the collection owned by the Trustees of The Rothschild Archive but the Archive has day-today custody of these items.

For further information about artworks in the collection, see the links to the left.

Note: there is no general public access to works on display.
