Papers and other material concerning extended family members and family associated by marriage to the Rothschilds. Researchers interested in the wider Rothschild family are advised to consult the monumental genealogy of the Rothschild banking family Le Sang des Rothschild by Joseph Valynseele and Henri Mars (ICC Editions, Paris, 2004). The Perugias were a merchant family from Trieste. Nina Perugia (c.1825-1892), one of the 15 children of Joseph Landauer and Rosalie Bauer of Budapest, married Achille Perugia (1822-1865) of Trieste. One of their daughters, (Eugenie) Louise Perugia (1854-1943) married Arthur Sassoon (c.1840-1912). Her sister, Marie Perugia (1862-1937), married Leopold de Rothschild (1845-1917) in January 1881. The wedding was one of the social events of the season and was attended by many famous guests including Disraeli, and the Prince of Wales. The marriage produced three sons: Lionel Nathan (1882–1942), Evelyn Achille (1886–1917), and Anthony Gustav (1887–1961).
