Clients' stock accounts before 1873 appear in the records of the Stock Department at XVI/15. In the series of clients’ stock accounts, the allotment of accounts between the variously numbered series appears to be random. The volumes in the series below are indexed individually, except where noted in the description.
Stock Accounts Books, 1869-1930
I/52/1-12, 12 volumes
The first volume (1869-1874) contains a record of stock bought and sold through named brokers. From the second volume, which opens in 1870, the series records the balance of the stock held by the house.
Share Accounts, 1870-1916
I/32/1-2, 2 volumes
This series records the shares in government and railway company stock held jointly by NMR and de Rothschild Freres. On 31 March 1915 stocks were transferred to the "Large Stock Book" kept by Mr. Allard Jones of the Private Accounts Department.
Bank of England Stock Ledger, 1888-1929
I/38/1, 1 volume
This is a record of stock held by the Bank of England and the transfer of it. Pasted into the front of the volume are lists of the partners in NMR with authority to act on behalf of the firm.
Stock Books, Rothschild family, 1907-1935
I/28/1-6, 6 volumes
This series records the stock holdings of members of the Rothschild family and family trusts, 44 individuals being represented in the first volume. The last volume in the series, I/28/6, is labelled 'Lady de Rothschild Old Stock Book', 1906-1935'; see also I/88.
Stock Books, Clients' Purchases and Sales, 1880-1921
I/51/1-5, 5 volumes
A record of private stock held by some members of the Rothschild family and their relatives and friends, including the Crewe, Montefiore, Battersea and Lyndhurst families, identifying the type and quantity of the stock.
Stock Books, Clients' Purchases and Sales No. 2, 1870-1924
I/68/1-10, 10 volumes
Private stock accounts recording purchases, dividends etc. The accounts are mainly for individuals but, from 1882, the number of entries for companies and banks increases. Included here is an entry for the Four Per Cent Industrial Dwellings Company Limited jointly founded by Lord Rothschild. Volume 9 is dedicated to Brazilian Funding 1914. There are no volumes in the series for 1912 or 1913. The first four volumes have entries arranged alphabetically; volumes 5 to 11 are indexed.

Private stock accounts for individuals. The fifth volume relates to Brazilian stocks, 1914-1917.

I/96/1-3, 3 volumes
Volumes 1 and 3 in this series contain accounts for a range of private individuals. Volume 2 relates to Brazilian 5% Funding Bonds, 1914.

Private stock accounts for individuals, many of who appear in the 'No. 3' account above.
Stock Books, No. 3 Letters Signatures and Instructions, 1879-1888

A single volume of letters of instruction relating to the clients listed in 'Stock Books No. 3' above.
Refinery Staff Stock Books, 1913-1926
I/181/1, 1 volume
A small number of accounts mainly in war bonds in the names of staff at the Royal Mint Refinery.
Stock Book, Lady Rothschild, 1886-1928
I/88/1-2, 2 volumes
These volumes record the stock holdings of Emma, first Lady Rothschild.
Stocks Deposited, 1903-1919
I/115/7, 1 volume
Only one volume from this series survives, recording stocks received by NMR and held on behalf of clients.
