New Court estate: photographs

Photographs of the exterior and interior of the various New Court buildings, including images of the demolition and construction of 'New Court' buildings. Included in this section is audio-visual material relating to New Court.

A large collection of photographs, contact sheets and other prints of the interior and exterior of the second New Court transferred from the Secretary's Department.  Some photographs would appear to have been taken for the commemorative album produced at the request of the Partners to mark the demolition of the second New Court in 1962 (see 000/208, 000/670 and 000/1249). Others are copies of photographs commissioned by NMR or taken by various publications for articles and features published in UK and overseas papers and magazines, including the article 'Inside the House of Rothschild', Achievement magazine, October 1962 (a copy will be found in 000/624/6). There are duplicate copies of some images.

New Court, photographs: the second New Court, commemorative album, 1962

New Court, photographs: the second New Court, commemorative album, 1962: five identical copies of a commemorative album produced to mark to the rebuilding of New Court 1962-1965. The album, in blue leather in a leather slip-case is entitled Old New Court, 1819-1962. It contains black and white photographs illustrating the New Court buildings 1819-1962. The album was produced in 1962 at the request of the Rothschild Partners to mark the rebuilding of New Court, and serves as a photographic record of the second New Court, and a tribute to past Partners. Several volumes were produced, for each of the Partners and Directors.

The album (000/208) was retained by the NMR Secretary's Department. The album (000/1249/3) was the personal copy of Mr Edmund de Rothschild (1916-2009), and the album (000/2205/5/2) was the personal copy of Mr Leopold de Rothschild (1927-2012). The album (000/670) was gifted to the Archive by Mr Roland Willaims and carries the inscription: "To Roland Williams, The fifth generation of his family to have worked at New Court, this book of photographs of the "old" New Court is inscribed by one of the fifth generation Rothschilds, with all very best wishes, Edmund de Rothschild, April 1968". The album (000/2736/2) was gifted to the Archive from the estate of Mr Michael Bucks, a former Partner at New Court.
