  • Refinery staff, c.1905;
  • RMR staff outing to Eastbourne, 1905. The photograph by R.H. Ramsden, Eastbourne, dated 22 April 1905 shows the staff posed for a group photograph, printed around the edge are the names of all those present plus those of staff who were absent from the trip.

Royal Mint Refinery: photograph albums, 'The Times Gold Number', c.1933

000/376/1-4, 2 volumes, 5 items

In June 1933, The Times published a special 'Gold Number', featuring articles on gold mining, gold refining, and the role of gold in the world economy. The publication featured a number of photographs of the Royal Mint Refinery at work. These two photograph albums, 000/376/1 and 000/376/2 contain black and white photographs that were presumed taken by The Times as part of this feature. The photographs show refiners at work, gold bars laid out in Assaying Room and other views. The albums are identical except for one image. Some photographs have been captioned.

A copy of The Times 'Gold Number' 20 June 1933, will be found in 000/376/8. 000/376/3 are two framed photographs of gold bar assaying at the Royal Mint Refinery, copies of two photographs in the albums. 000/376/4 is a packet and a box containing glass plate negatives of images from the Royal Mint Refinery albums in 000/376/1 and 000/376/2 and a printers’ block of one of images from the albums in 000/376/1 and 000/376/2.

Large bound photograph album, entitled 'RMR' containing black and white images of the Royal Mint Refinery. This album shows the improvements to the works in the mid-1930s, showing staff areas and facilities with loose pages showing exterior views along Royal Mint Street.

Royal Mint Refinery: 'home movies' of Mr Belcher, c.1950-c.1965

'Home movies' transferred to video cassette. The footage was taken by Mr Belcher, the last manager of the Royal Mint Refinery, 1952-1967. The video contains movies c.1950-1965, showing staff of the Royal Mint Refinery enjoying staff outings, and footage taken of the RMR stands at various trade exhibitions.
