Balance sheets

These papers are from 'Box 32' from the New Court vaults. It is possible that some items were from the consignment of papers from the Frankfurt House brought to London in 1901 by Joseph Nauheim, a senior clerk at the London house, who managed the liquidation of the Frankfurt business on behalf of Nathaniel, 1st Lord Rothschild.
The volumes are mainly 19th-century ledgers and balance sheets both for the five Rothschild banking houses and for the individual houses in London, Paris, Vienna and Frankfurt, spanning the date range 1824-1896, but with significant gaps. Others are more random survivals. Of particular interest is the statement of the position of the five houses taken on the death of Nathan Mayer in 1836.
